Raleigh Orthodontics Kudos Box- a small way for a parent to give a BIG Congratulations!

Kudo Box visual

Are you an extremely proud parent? Well, we want to hear why! Here’s your chance to tell us. The next time you visit us at our Raleigh, Creedmoor, or Louisburg offices look for the Kudos Box in each waiting area.

Use the Kudos Box! It’s a box where you put a card (they are on top of the box) to brag about what your youngster has recently accomplished.

Grab a card and write down your child’s name and recent accomplishment. It can be anything you’re really proud of. You can give us your name as well if you like.

A few kind words can go far! Next time you are visiting us, take a minute to say Kudos to your youngster. They’ll really love your bragging about them and the encouragement! We want to congratulate and brag about them, too!

When you submit a Kudos card for your child, you also have the chance of seeing it posted on the Raleigh Orthodontics social media sites, website and next Smiles Hi! Newsletter, showing off how special your child is! Also, feel free to email your Kudos along with a picture of your child to Danielle@RaleighOrthodontics.com!

Let’s talk about the cost of braces..

K_affordingbraces_big

Many folks these days enjoy the benefits of braces- a beautiful, healthy smile for a lifetime. Here at Raleigh Orthodontics, it’s our mission to provide you with affordable, personalized and highly experienced specialty orthodontic care that fits your budget!

We offer a variety of payment options to meet your financial needs.

The Cost of Braces

Let’s start with the typical fee, say $5635, for full braces lasting about 18 to 24 months. This fee will include all the planning needed at the beginning, all the braces and adjustments, plus retainers when the braces come off. You may elect to pay a typical initial payment of 15% to 25 %, then spread the remaining amount over 18 months. We are very flexible in how payments are structured so we allow initial payments as low as 5% to 10% as well. We will help you fit the fee into your budget so you can get the care you need for your child or yourself. If paying the whole fee at the beginning we apply a 5% fee reduction for simplifying our bookkeeping.

Insurance Coverage for Braces

We participate In-Network with the following insurance companies:
MetLife, Blue Cross Blue Sheild, Ameritas, Cigna, Humana, United Concordia and The Guardian.

Here at Raleigh Orthodontics we are very experienced working with these and many other insurance companies. This means we’ll file for your insurance coverage and apply the expected coverage amount to the fee, reducing the costs to you. Keep your coverage active during the whole time of treatment to take advantage of this benefit. We will determine the level of your coverage and explain it to you at your first visit.

Affordable Braces

We pay special attention to features of care that keep costs down. In addition to using your insurance coverage for braces, we use advanced materials and techniqus to keep the care visits to a minimum while still keeping highest quality care our main goal.

In the end, the benefits of our personalized, highly experienced specialty orthodontic care outweigh the costs. You can expect to have teeth that are easier to keep clean, won’t wear down because of a poor bite, and that allow a big, bright beautiful smile that boosts confidence and makes smiling a joy.

If you have any questions about financing or payments, ask us! We’ll thoroughly explain your choices and make sure we accommodate your needs. Give us a call at 919-847-6364 and visit us at RaleighOrthodotics.com. See you soon!

Orhodontics

Many folks these days want the benefits of braces- to enjoy a beautiful, healthy smile for a lifetime. More and more young people and adults are seeking these benefits, visiting us here at Raleigh Orthodontics, and enjoying seeing their smiles improve evey month. While the cost of orthodontic care has become more and more affordable, for some the cost can be a bit of a budget challenge. We have responded to this by offering a variety of ways that help everyone afford great orthodontic care.

THE COST OF BRACES

There are a variety of ways to afford orthodontic care here at Raleigh Orthodontics. Let’s start with the typical fee, say $5635, for full braces lasting about 18 to 24 months. This fee will include all the planning needed at the beginning as well as retainers at the end of treatment. You may elect to pay our typical initial payment of 15% to 25 %, then spread the remaining amount over 18 months. Most folks do it this way. If you can pay the whole fee at the beginning we’ll give you a 5% fee reduction for simplifying our bookkeeping.

MAKING BRACES AFFORDABLE

If you’d like to spread the fee out further to reduce the monthly payments we’ll help you with options for outside financing. The interest rate for these is usually very attractive and it helps you fit the cost of care into your budget.

Here at Raleigh Orthodontics we are very experienced working with a large variety of insurance companies and their various plans. This means we’ll file for your insurance coverage and apply the expected coverage amount to the fee, reducing the costs to you. Keep your coverage active during the whole time of treatment to take advantage of this benefit. We will determine the level of your coverage and explain it to you at your first visit.

NEW TECHNIQUES AND AFFORDABLE BRACES

With advances in braces technology we are able to keep our fees reduced, which certainly benefits everyone. The advanced new metals, such as nitinol, by working over longer time intervals, reduce the number of appointments. The newer orthodontic appliances we use also work automatically, over longer periods of time, keeping treatment simpler and easier on our patients. With these advances come higher quality results as well as efficiency, which makes getting a great result easier and more affordable. At Raleigh Orthodontics we’re always looking for ways to get super results as easy for our patients as possible.

COST OF BRACES or COST OF AN UNHEALTHY MOUTH?

While we know braces are more affordable these days than ever before, let’s consider what proper orthodontic care will save you in terms of avoiding future complications and problems. The social costs of not having an attractive smile have been documented scientifically and are significant. Showing off an unreserved, healthy, beautiful smile when meeting someone sends positive signals of enthusiasm for working with people. Well aligned teeth are easier to keep clean, which helps keep the teeth healthy our whole lives. And a healthy bite promotes health of the teeth by controlling wear and tear on our teeth. So, while the financial cost of braces is significant, the costs of not getting proper orthodontic care are usually much greater by allowing problems to persist.

Every day here at Raleigh Orthodotics, as we see our patients’ beautiful smiles develop, we see their spirits rise and the health of their mouths improve. We know we’re creating healthy, great looking smiles that will last a lifetime. These long term benefits make the cost of braces small compared to the wonderful benefits they produce. We’re happy to make these benefits available to you. Just give us a call at 919-847-6364 and visit us on the web at raleighorthodotics.com . We’ll see you soon!

Feelings and Actions Influence Orthodontic Health

orthodontic health

In the last blog, Social and Physical Influences on Orthodontic Health, we looked at how problems in our physical and social environments can undermine the health of the mind and body.  When such health problems arise it can have negative consequences in our feelings and actions.  Keep in mind that as you seek to have a healthy body, having a bright smile to share with others and great orthodontic health will be a boost to your efforts.

The Mind and Feelings Connection

Health complications and challenges can cause us to feel hopeless, dejected, and misunderstood.  Eventually such feelings will undermine our desire to direct our lifestyle and efforts to improve our orthodontic health. It is very important to guard against such a process in our lives.  When the feeling arises we need to reverse the process by examining our mind and thinking about what our thoughts  have been.  Have they been encouraging of our continued efforts to overcome health challenges?  Or have they fallen into thoughts of limitations yielding to despair.  Have we marshaled help from our family and friends to overcome or have we isolated ourselves, walling off the opportunity to be boosted by those around us who care about us?  The mind is a battlefield of thoughts and when we win the battle our feelings improve.

Importantly, if you’re reluctant to freely socialize and smile because of concern about the looks of your teeth, perhaps this limitation in your orthodontic health is holding back your positive health moves and feelings and actions that can lead to making the changes in your lifestyle that will enhance your health.  Pay attention to this.  Look at the battlefield in your mind for times when you thought your smile was not good enough for something your wanted to do.

The Body and Orthodontic Health

Be aware if you’re stuck in an unhealthy environment or unfavorable personal relationships that can drain your enthusiasm for making healthy lifestyle choices.  Do your lifestyle habits represent giving up on taking responsibility for your lifestyle?  Are you stuck in an unhealthy rut?  Look at what you’ve been doing in the last few months, especially your habits relating to body health: rest, exercise, nutrition, intake of unhealthy substances, etc.  Start with controlling one of these well and you’ll notice how you feel better.  Let this encourage you to take the next step and think with each success you’ll make a profound improvement in the end.

As you make improvement in controlling your social and physical environments a greater level of health will return to your mind and body.  This will positively influence your feelings and actions encouraging you to do even better at taking charge of what’s around you, making personal relationships an encouraging experience and keeping your physical environment one that promotes health.  Your thoughts will be hopeful, your behavior health promoting, and your feelings will be comfortable and joyous as you see a brighter health future for yourself.

Orthodontic Health

The healthy environment you will live in, both body and mind, will encourage you to appreciate the power of a beautiful smile.  If you want to improve the confidence of your smile and react to happiness and joy in your smile without holding back, then improving your orthodontic health will be a rewarding experience for you.  As this happens, you begin to benefit from that bright smile, and learn that just the act of a spontaneous big grin will lift your spirits, give you a hopeful outlook, and empower your health and fulfillment.  That’s the power of a beautiful smile.

We’re here at Raleigh Orthodontics to help you get that beautiful smile and great orthodontic health to enjoy the rest of your life.

Health, Lifestyle and Orthodontics

Orthodontics

Everyone wants and values great health, and proper orthodontic treatment will certainly help provide this. The success of great orthodontic treatment is promoted both by healthy lifestyles and by the absence of diseases and disorders, including the mouth, jaws, jaw joints and chewing muscles. Diseases and disorders encompass anything that’s wrong with our bodies, including the physical, psychological and spiritual. These undermine the optimum state of well-being.

Stressors to health can come from internal sources such as genetic influences and psychological stress from a poor self-image related to crooked front teeth. There are external stessors such as improper diet or lack of sufficient health habits such as good regular physical exercise and getting sufficient rest. Paying attention to these will help achieve great orthodontic health.

Orthodontic Health

Optimal health promotes a successful orthodontic result. Proper nutrition helps the teeth and jaws develop properly and can keep them healthy. Controlling emotional stress will reduce wear and tear on the jaw joints, chewing muscles and teeth by reducing grinding and clenching habits. Having successful and complete orthodontic treatment supports keeping the teeth, jaw joints and chewing muscles happy. This helps you keep your teeth and your smile bright and beautiful your whole life.

Focus on Lifestyle

Lifestyles become the focus for optimum health and success in orthodontics. Include great orthodontic treatment in your lifestyle for optimum health. For reduced stress consider these options: First, get
regular strenuous physical exercise. This is great for body tone and cardiac health and even can help get good rest at night.

It works the mental stress out through your muscles. Second, find time regularly for quiet reflection, perhaps opening your heart to some Bible verses, for example. Finally, pay attention to how you feel about yourself. If this could be better, be sure you’re not holding back your smile because you’re concerned about how your teeth look. We can help you get a beautiful, aligned smile to enjoy your whole lifetime.

Such a positive change will help empower you to bring great habits into your life. Also include a lifestyle of smart nutrition for health and great orthodontics. For healthy teeth, whether you’re wearing braces or not, it’s best to avoid sugary drinks and soda. These promote harmful bacterial growth and reduced calcium in the tooth surface, leading to decay and white spots on the teeth.

A diet sufficient in protein, minimizing sugars and other carbohydrates (particularly at snack time), along with regular thorough brushing with a fluoride toothpaste is a great way to bring oral health to your lifestyle. Add great orthodontic health to this and you’ve got a winning combination.

Lifestyle Stress & Orthodontic Health

orthodontic health

Let’s look at the fact that monitoring and effectively managing stress in our lives enhances what we do for you in orthodontics, giving you more opportunity to share your bright beautiful smile with others with a full and grateful heart, not one bogged down by excessive stress. Take a look at this link to see the Stress Factors Rating Scale. After finishing this blog give yourself a few minutes to rate your stress. If the total stress points are less than 100 you’re doing great, 100 -200 and you could be starting to feel some physical/emotional effects from stress; 200 to 299 you’re likely feeling negative effects, and if over 300 the stressors in your life could very well be promoting physical/emotional illness.

Perhaps you’ve had enough experience with changing stress levels to know you feel much better when you’ve been blessed with a period of time with relatively low stress in your life.  You can be active in promoting this more healthy level of stress.

Stress

Doing the Stress Factor Rating Scale will help you know the kinds of experiences that cause stress and which ones are more powerful than others. Keeping your body/mind/soul healthy with the Health Habits described in a previous blog will help you keep up your resistance to stress.  Being healthy, a good diet, exercise, a positive attitude toward life’s difficulties aid your ability to handle stress and will allow you to better enjoy the journey you are taking in orthodontics to get your “Great Smile”.

Gather a support system around you and let them know you want to make positive changes in your life and stresses.  Tell them you want to achieve a healthy body and mind, gain the ability to handle stress by conquering its negative effect on you and succeed in becoming the bright smiled person you want to be.

We believe that as you know your stressors and stress level and gain abilities to manage/reduce stresses you will find it easier to achieve the rest of your goals. One of the most important methods we know is regular strenuous physical exercise.  This can include walking and stretching as well as more challenging exercise like jogging, swimming, bicycling and various gym workouts.  Great exercise allows stress to be released through the muscles in a healthy way rather than thru muscle tension, which can cause pain.

It burns calories, raises the metabolic rate, give us muscle tone making it easier to enjoy movement during the day, and helps us sleep better at night because we’re more tired when we hit the sack.

Once we feel that we are de-stressing, and learn techniques to control stress levels, next consider good nutrition. If weight is a factor, be more aware of calories, portions and emphasize low glycemic index foods.  Putting in the effort to create healthy eating habits will pay off.  You’ll be able to reduce between meal snacking, know healthy foods from junk foods, and probably improve your digestive function as well.

Orthodontic

As you move thru these positive changes in stress management you’ll be able to factor in your health habits and these efforts will support each other.  Watch for small steps of improvement and keep going forward. You will be able have a sense of your own well-being you may not have had before.  If you need support when you hit a low, rally your support system around you, including us, your orthodontic team. We really care that you reach your goal for a healthy lifestyle.

Lifestyle stress reduction, health habits and the orthodontic health improvements you make while under our care here at Raleigh Orthodontics will serve you well for a lifetime; changes you’ll never regret making.  When we finish your bright beautiful smile and remove your braces, with a healthy lifestyle you’ll have every reason to show off your natural, full smile and spread your joy to others around you.
